Virginia Stark-Vance, M.D.
Dr. Stark-Vance is a medical oncologist in private practice in Dallas, Texas. She graduated with highest honors from the University of Oklahoma, where she published original research in light and electron microscopy. She was accepted to the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and continued in biomedical research for the next four years. In her third year, she was accepted into the first class of Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholars at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. There she became a member of the "Gene Team," the first laboratory to perform human gene therapy. Upon graduation, she completed her residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C. Dr. Stark-Vance then returned to the National Institutes of Health for her oncology fellowship. Her research team developed a highly successful treatment for primary central nervous system and ocular lymphoma. In 1996 she returned to Texas to begin private practice. She has continued to write clinical trials and publish original research, including the first clinical trial of Avastin in high grade glioma. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society of Neuro-Oncology. She has practiced at Medical City Dallas Hospital since 1998.
